U.S. President Donald Trump threatened Iran with more bombing on Wednesday (May 6, 2026) if it doesn’t reopen the Strait of Hormuz after a report that an agreement is emerging to end war. Mr. Trump posted on Truth Social platform that the war with Iran could soon end and oil, and natural gas shipments could restart. But that all depends on Iran accepting a reported agreement that the U.S. President did not detail.

India and Vietnam on Wednesday (May 6, 2026) elevated their ties to an enhanced comprehensive strategic partnership and set a $25 billion annual trade target by 2030 as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Vietnamese President To Lam held talks focusing on expanding bilateral ties in areas of trade, defence and critical minerals in the face of increasing geopolitical upheavals.
The Congress on Wednesday (May 6, 2026) rejected allegations that it had “backstabbed” its long-time ally DMK for power by supporting the TVK, saying it never sought any post when their alliance was ruling Tamil Nadu and even the DMK had parted ways with it in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls. “This cannot be called backstabbing,” the Congress’ media and publicity chairperson Pawan Khera said.
The Supreme Court on Wednesday (May 6, 2026) refused to accede to the Centre’s request to adjourn the hearing on pleas challenging the constitutional validity of a 2023 law that removed the CJI from a committee responsible for appointing the Chief Election Commissioner and the deputies, saying the matter is “more important” than the Sabarimala case.

Comfort has eluded Delhi Capitals at home in IPL’s 19th edition. The Axar Patel-led franchise has won just one out of five matches at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. On its visits to other venues, it has fared much better, notching up three wins in five games. Contributing to the travails at home has been the large deviation in the nature of surfaces, hindering DC from cultivating a consistent style of play in its backyard.
