The No. 2-seeded Texas Tech Red Raiders will take the field against the No. 3-seeded UCLA Bruins in an elimination game of the Women’s College World Series on Sunday night at the OG&E Energy Field at Devon Park in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The Bruins, the No. 6-ranked team in the country, come into this elimination game with their sights set on heading to the championship. After finishing their season 53-9, they swept the Los Angeles Regional in three straight games and the Super Regional in two games against UCF with a combined score of 23-5. They opened the WCWS with a matchup against Alabama, which they lost 6-3, immediately heading to elimination games. In their first elimination contest, the team took down Arkansas 11-0.

The Red Raiders, who finished as the No. 9-ranked team in the country, lost in the Big 12 Tournament to Arizona State but bounced back into the Lubbock Regionals. They swept their hosted regional in Lubbock, Texas, in three games before going three games with Florida in the Super Regionals. After winning the first game, they lost the second game but bounced back with a win in the rubber match. In the first game of the WCWS, they took down Mississippi State before suffering a loss in the semifinals to Tennessee, 2-1.
The winner of this game will advance to take on the No. 1-seeded Alabama in the championship game of Bracket 2 in the Women’s College World Series. For either one of these teams to go to the best-of-three WCWS Final, they would have to beat Alabama twice in a row on Monday since they haven’t lost yet in the double-elimination bracket.
