June 2, 2026 at 9:41 PM An update from Nevada County CDA on the sewer spill at Scotts Flat. The spill was due to a broken pipe at a vault above the Scotts Flat lake boat ramp. Staff are completing cleanup tonight. About 390 gallons of wastewater made it to the lake. Testing is underway and no swim signs will be posted until testing shows pre-spill conditions. More information will be shared tomorrow.

June 2, 2026 at 9:54 AM By a 4-1 vote, the Nevada County Board of Supervisors proclaimed June 2026 as Pride Month in Nevada County. This time, Robb Tucker voted No instead of abstaining like last year.
June 2, 2026 at 9:26 AM Approximately 30 acres of prescribed burning is scheduled for June 2nd 2026 on Beale Air Force Base near main base. Smoke will be visible in surrounding communities on June 2nd 2026 from 10:00-3:00. The purpose of this prescribed burn is to reduce hazardous and flammable fuels, as well as to improve rangeland conditions by targeting and reducing invasive and noxious grass species. In addition to these ecological and safety benefits, this operation provides valuable training opportunities.

June 2, 2026 at 6:45 AM Today, CAL FIRE will conduct a prescribed burn at the Spenceville Shooting Range. The 22-acre prescribed fire is designed to avoid starts at the shooting range. Numerous resources are on site, there is no need to report the smoke.

June 1, 2026 at 1:39 PM CAL FIRE’s Tanker 88 and Air Attack 230 arrived at the Grass Valley Air Attack Base this morning from McClellan to settle in for the 2026 fire season. Tanker 89 will join them next week. Over the next few weeks, you’ll see them training over the area and be available for any starts in the Nevada Yuba Placer unit and beyond.

Winds will be lighter today and tomorrow, but we will see them increase Wednesday through Friday (potentially into the weekend) for the Valley/Delta. Low RH values are expected this week as we continue with the warm and dry conditions. Potentially for some northerly winds Thursday.
