Police probe extortion and gang rivalry angles as Lawrence gang claims responsibility; no injuries reported in firing incident
Punjab Newsline | New Delhi
A gym reportedly associated with popular Punjabi singer Guru Randhawa came under heavy gunfire in Delhi’s Paschim Vihar area early Thursday morning, triggering panic in the locality.

According to police sources, two bike-borne assailants opened indiscriminate fire outside the gym, firing at least seven rounds before fleeing the scene. No injuries have been reported in the incident, but the attack has raised serious security concerns.

Shortly after the incident, a social media post allegedly linked to the Lawrence gang claimed responsibility for the firing, further intensifying the investigation. However, police are verifying the authenticity of the claim.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the gym is owned by two businessmen from Rajouri Garden, while Guru Randhawa is associated with it as a brand ambassador.

Police have registered a case and are probing multiple angles, including extortion, gang rivalry, and personal enmity. Multiple teams have been formed to identify and track down the attackers.

Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the area, and security has been heightened following the incident.

Following the incident, a social media post claiming responsibility for the attack went viral. The post read: “Jai Mahakal, Jai Shri Ram, Ram Ram to all brothers. The firing that took place today at Guru Randhawa’s 24HS Fitness gym in Delhi was carried out by me, Anil Pandit (USA), along with the Lawrence Group.”

The post further claimed that Guru Randhawa had become “too close to Salman Khan.” It alleged that the gang had previously warned the singer to stay away from the Bollywood actor, describing Salman Khan as “our enemy.”

The message added that Guru Randhawa ignored those warnings and stated, “All our enemies, no matter where they hide, will soon face us. Wait and watch.”

It concluded by mentioning the names Lawrence Bishnoi Group, Jitender Gogi Mann Group, Harry Boxer, Arju Bishnoi, Tyson Bishnoi, Shubham Lonkar, Harman Sandhu, and Ankit Sirsa, along with the phrase “Salaam Shaheeda Nu.”

The authenticity of the viral post has not been independently verified, and police are investigating its origin and the claims made in it.
