EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — Families looking for a fun and free way to keep children engaged in reading this summer are invited to take part in the kickoff of the Summer 2026 Read to Succeed Program.
The program officially gets underway tonight with a special story time event from 5 to 6 p.m. at Barnes & Noble.
According to the Evansville Police Department, families will enjoy readings of Jabari Jumps, an uplifting story about courage, confidence, and trying something new, followed by the popular children’s book The Pout-Pout Fish.
Organizers say the event is designed to be more than just story time. The Read to Succeed program aims to foster a love of reading while creating meaningful connections between children, families, and community members.
The summer-long program encourages children to keep reading during the break from school, helping maintain literacy skills while making reading an enjoyable part of their daily routine.
