SALISBURY, Md. – The Maryland State Police Salisbury Barrack responded to an unusual call Saturday after an emu was reported in the roadway near the Salisbury Bypass and Ocean City Exit.
Troopers say they received the call around 10:50 a.m. After a brief search, they located and captured the bird around 2 p.m near pheasant drive using a dog leash.
Authorities say the emu was struck by a vehicle around 1:30 p.m but was not injured.
The bird was returned to its owners around 3 p.m.
