Mumbai: The makers of the Hindi version of Drishyam 3 have reportedly made significant changes to the storyline and twists, setting it apart from the recently released Malayalam original while retaining the core essence of the franchise.
With shooting already completed, the film is now being prepared for its theatrical release on October 2, 2026. The development has generated considerable interest among fans following the release of the Malayalam version in May.
The first two Hindi instalments of the Drishyam franchise closely followed their Malayalam counterparts. However, industry sources indicate that the third film will take a different approach.
According to reports, the Hindi adaptation has undergone substantial changes in its narrative structure, plot developments and key twists.
While the makers have reportedly retained the emotional foundation and central themes of the franchise, they have crafted a storyline tailored specifically for Hindi-speaking audiences.
The decision marks a departure from the adaptation strategy followed in the previous films.
Director Abhishek Pathak had earlier indicated that the Hindi and Malayalam versions would share the same emotional core but differ in treatment and presentation.
According to Pathak, the Malayalam film leans more towards an emotional family drama, whereas the Hindi version has been developed as a family thriller.
The distinction is expected to influence the pacing, suspense elements and overall storytelling style of the film.
The approach aims to preserve the franchise’s appeal while offering a fresh experience to audiences familiar with the original version.
The film sees the return of several key actors from the previous instalments.
Ajay Devgn reprises his role as Vijay Salgaonkar, while Tabu and Shriya Saran also return to continue their respective characters’ journeys.
The latest instalment introduces notable additions to the cast, including Jaideep Ahlawat and Prakash Raj.
Industry sources suggest that both actors play significant roles and are expected to add new dimensions to the story.
One of the notable changes in Drishyam 3 is the appointment of Ravi Basrur as the film’s music composer.
Basrur is known for his work in major films such as KGF, Salaar, Marco and Toxic.
The composer has previously collaborated with Ajay Devgn on Bholaa and Singham Again.
Interestingly, each instalment of the Hindi Drishyam franchise has featured a different music composer. Vishal Bhardwaj handled the music for the first film, while Devi Sri Prasad composed for Drishyam 2.
Presented by Star Studios and produced by Panorama Studios, Drishyam 3 is directed by Abhishek Pathak and written by Abhishek Pathak, Aamil Keeyan Khan and Parveez Shaikh.
The film is produced by Alok Jain, Ajit Andhare, Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak.
With a revamped storyline, a strong returning cast and fresh additions, the film is expected to be one of the most anticipated Bollywood releases of the year when it arrives in cinemas on October 2, 2026.
The Drishyam franchise has built a loyal following thanks to its blend of family drama, suspense and intricate storytelling.
The decision to significantly alter the Hindi version’s plot has heightened curiosity among audiences, especially those who have already watched the Malayalam original.
Whether the new narrative choices will deliver the same impact as previous instalments remains to be seen, but expectations are high as the countdown to release begins.
