DELHI, La. (KNOE) – Delhi is investing $1.4 million to replace old sewer lines with improved ones.
Excess water was entering the old sewer lines, causing backups because of the large volume and raising the town’s utility and chemical bills, Delhi Mayor Jesse Washington said. He hopes the investment will ease concerns across the community.
“It will help lower the bill once all this corrected,” Washington said. “You compare to excess water getting in there, you know, the only way we’re gonna profit anything is correct.”
Nancy Tate, a Delhi resident, agrees with Mayor Washington, stating this will benefit the town in the long run.
“The residents should not see any expenses or additional expenses due to this plant,” Tate said. “Hopefully, in the future, it will save on costs, too.”
Currently, Mayor Washington doesn’t have a set start date for the project. He said the project shouldn’t be time-consuming.
