Iranian officials reported damage to at least two bridges, railway infrastructure and a key highway on Tuesday as part of a wave of deadly U.S.-Israeli airstrikes on infrastructure targets. A bridge near the holy city of Qom and another carrying a railway line in the central city of Kashan were struck, according to regional officials quoted by state media. Two people were killed and three were injured in Kashan, senior regional security official Akbar Salehi said, according to Iran’s IRNA news agency. A key highway in northern Iran connecting the main northern city of Tabriz with Tehran via Zanjan was also closed after a hit around 90 kilometres (55 miles) outside of Tabriz, an official told IRNA.
Manipur Chief Minister Y. Khemchand Singh on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting to review the law and order situation in the State, after two children were killed in a bomb attack in Bishnupur district. The Manipur government also ordered suspension of internet and mobile data services, including Broadband, VSATs and VPN in five valley districts for three days, an official statement said.
An Assam Police team on Tuesday (April 7, 2026) is at the Delhi residence of Congress leader Pawan Khera for questioning in connection with a case linked to allegations made against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and his family. The team formally informed Delhi Police upon arrival, following which a local police team joined and is assisting in the proceedings, PTI cited official sources as saying.
Marking a significant step forward in India’s nuclear power programme, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, via a post on X, late on Monday (April 6, 2026), said that the prototype fast breeder reactor (PFBR) at Kalpakkam, Chennai, had achieved ‘criticality.’ This means that the nuclear reaction in the reactor had become safely self-sustaining and was on its way to being able to produce electricity.
A woman cannot be treated as “untouchable” for three days in a month and then cease to be considered untouchable on the fourth day, Supreme Court judge BV Nagarathna remarked on Tuesday. The remark came while a nine-judge bench was hearing on petitions related to discrimination against women at religious places, including Sabarimala temple of Keralam, and on the ambit and scope of religious freedom practised by multiple faiths.

Not only was India importing nearly 91% of its crude oil requirements as of February 2026, a historic high, but more than 54% of these imports came from West Asian countries — their second-highest share in nearly 3.5 years.

The Ministry has asked the Broadcast Audience Research Council to suspend the publication of TRP ratings for news channels.
Facing a looming U.S. deadline, Iran’s President said Tuesday (April 7, 2026) that 14 million Iranians, including himself, have volunteered to sacrifice their lives in the war. President Masoud Pezeshkian made the comment on X just ahead of U.S. President Donald Trump’s deadline to bomb power stations and bridges in Iran if it doesn’t loosen its chokehold on the Strait of Hormuz.
Three assailants opened fire at police outside a building housing the Israeli Consulate in Istanbul on Tuesday (April 7, 2026), sparking a gunfight that left one attacker dead, Turkish officials said. The two other assailants were captured with injuries. Two police officers sustained slight injuries in the clash, Istanbul Gov. Davut Gul told reporters. The assailants were carrying long-barrelled weapons.
The Israeli military on Tuesday (April 7, 2026) told people in Iran not to use trains or go near railway lines. “For the sake of your security, we kindly request that from this moment until 21:00 Iran time, you refrain from using and travelling by train throughout Iran,” the military posted on its Persian-language account on X.
