FALCONER — The Thule Lodge is the Swedish organization formed 119 years ago in the Jamestown area. The lodge was formed to help the Swedish immigrants with their housing, employment and schooling. Many of the Swedish people found employment in the many furniture factories which were in the Jamestown area. Today, the lodge exists to preserve Swedish heritage through events and activities.
Recently, the lodge held a Memorial service to remember those members who died in the last year at the 3C’s Hall in Falconer. Past chairman Susan Fredrickson Washington Sipos conducted the service with the help of her husband John Sipos, who served as lodge historian for 27 years.
Family members were invited to attend the service. The service included special music, followed by reading of the names of the departed members and placing carnations on the altar. Following the service, cookies and coffee were provided by 3C’s.
Scott Axelson is the Thule lodge chairman, Wayne Nelson is the lodge vice chairman, Jeffrey Crossley is the lodge secretary, Loretta Smith is the lodge treasurer, and Lynne Meyers is the membership chairman.
