Found footage franchise The Blair Witch Project is coming back to life with a new movie, and Lionsgate has announced today that the Blair Witch will return in 2027.
The Blair Witch Project releases in theaters on September 24, 2027.
Check out the cryptic release date announce video below…
Dylan Clark (Portrait of God) is set to direct the new take on the seminal found footage horror movie, with the original movie’s filmmakers and cast on board to produce the project.
Chris Thomas Devlin wrote the screenplay.
Original Blair Witch Project filmmakers Eduardo Sánchez and Daniel Myrick, producer Gregg Hale, and stars Joshua Leonard and Michael C. Williams will executive produce.
Producer James Wan told Indiewire, “Getting all the original people that were involved in the original Blair Witch, getting their blessing and getting them involved. That was very important for all of us. We wanted to pay respect to the legacy of it all.”
Blumhouse’s Jason Blum and Atomic Monster‘s James Wan are producing the new Blair Witch Project with Roy Lee and Divide/Conquer’s Adam Hendricks & Greg Gilreath.
The official press release teases this week, “The horror masterminds at Blumhouse Atomic Monster (Obsession, The Conjuring, Backrooms) remind us how scary the woods can be with this groundbreaking new chapter of The Blair Witch Project.”
Executive producers also include Michael Clear, Judson Scott, and Steven Schneider.
Much like David F. Sandberg, Curry Barker, and Kane Parsons before him, Dylan Clark was discovered on YouTube after going viral with his horror short Portrait of God. That short is already being expanded into a feature, with Jordan Peele and Sam Raimi producing.
Dylan Clark is also writing to direct an adaptation of his short film Story Time.
