Suspect dead after Moore police chase ends with TVI, shots fired near I-35 in Norman – KOCO

Authorities say a suspect died after a pursuit started in Moore and ended with a tactical vehicle intervention and shots fired near Interstate 35 in Norman.

Moore Police Department officials said officers tried to conduct a traffic stop around 9:10 a.m. in the 300 block of Northwest 27th Street. The driver did not stop and went south on I-35.
The suspect led law enforcement on a pursuit before getting off the highway on Flood and going onto Tecumseh Road in Norman.

A Moore police officer performed a TVI maneuver, causing the suspect’s vehicle the crash into a grassy area off the side of the road. Officers then opened fire, Moore police Lt. Francisco Franco said.
The suspect died, but it’s unknown whether he was shot to death or was killed in the crash.
The investigation is ongoing, and police said there is no threat to the public. Information about the suspect has not been released.
