This week on In Focus, Irondequoit Town Supervisor John Perticone highlights dedication of town staff and importance of traditions. Perticone discusses his six-month tenure in the role and what he’s learned from residents so far. He also particularly honors veterans and emphasizes the significance of the Memorial Day parade and the town’s veteran population.
Fort Ticonderoga curator Matt Keagle also shares America 250 celebrations. Keagle talks about the significance of Fort Ticonderoga during the American Revolution. He discusses how it’s a 2,000-acre museum that offers living history programs and special events, including daily musket firings and cannon demonstrations. 
History and war studies instructor at West Point Major Kevin Fleming also highlights the academy’s founding in 1802. Fleming talks about its strategic role during the American Revolution, and its significance as the nation’s first and only national military academy for the U.S. Army. He emphasizes the importance of a well-rounded education for military leaders, including a bachelor’s degree, to prepare them for complex, technologically advanced challenges.
