A new Reuters/Ipsos poll released June 15 puts President Donald Trump‘s approval rating a smidge higher than the outlet’s last survey, at 36%, crediting a slight easing of Americans’ affordability worries.
The 1 percentage-point increase from the Reuters/Ipsos poll released last week is within the 3-point margin of error. The latest poll collected 1,537 responses from adults over four days, ending June 15, amid talk of a peace deal with Iran. Trump began his second term with a 47% approval rating in the outlet’s polling.
Trump announced June 14 that the United States had agreed to a framework deal with Iran, which is expected to bring an end to the fighting and open the Strait of Hormuz. In the wake of the news, the average price of gas fell below $4 a gallon – to $3.99 – for the first time in two months.
Approval of Trump’s handling of the cost of living rose 2 percentage points, to 24% in the latest Reuters/Ipsos poll. Disapproval fell from 73% to 69%.
An NBC News poll released June 14 showed Trump hitting a low in approval for that survey, at 39%, but it was taken earlier, closing June 7.
