· Hulu has announced “Paul Simon: The Quiet Celebration Concert,” a nearly two-hour live concert film recorded during the legendary singer-songwriter’s “A Quiet Celebration Tour.” The film will premiere in the U.S. on Disney+ and Hulu on June 26.
· Logline: Paul Simon brings his critically acclaimed and GRAMMY(R)-nominated “Seven Psalms” to life in this first-ever live performance of the complete piece for his “Quiet Celebration,” an intimate evening spanning his vast career and celebrating new arrangements of timeless classics, deep cuts and new musical discoveries. A stunning and immersive experience, lush and joyful, the film sparks a triumphant tone, picking up with Paul after having come to terms with his hearing loss and journeyed to discover new ways to perform. Simon’s transformation of the movements for live performance gave way to all-new renditions of some of his most cherished songs and a deep desire to bring these contemplative and intricate pieces to audiences. “A Quiet Celebration” toured the U.S. in small venues, selected for their acoustic prowess and intimate setting, allowing audiences to engage with the music like never before. Recorded live at McCaw Hall in Seattle, join Paul for this unforgettable concert.
· Credits: “Paul Simon: The Quiet Celebration Concert” is directed by Emmy(R) Award-winning director Joel Gallen and engineered by acclaimed GRAMMY-winning and Emmy-nominated recording engineer Biff Dawes. The concert film was executive produced by Joel Gallen and Matt Kramer, edited by Bill DeRonde, with Cameron Barnett serving as Director of Photography. It is presented by Sony Music Vision in association with Legacy Recordings and A Green Juice Films production.
· “This tour has enabled me to play with musicians again,” said Simon. “I really missed it. Everybody has enjoyed the experience so much. There’s been a feeling of camaraderie and elation that we were playing this piece of music that we were really interested in, and that had a significant effect on me. It made for one of the most extraordinary tours I’ve done – maybe the most joyous.”
· A companion live album will be released on Oct. 9 and will be available for preorder beginning June 26 as a three-LP vinyl set, a two CD set, and across all digital music stores and online music streaming partners.
