The Papillion Police Chief confirmed to KETV NewsWatch 7 that officers were involved in a shooting at the Papillion Home Depot.
Chief Chris Whitted said the suspect was critically injured in the shooting in the area near East Sixth and Washington streets and transported to the hospital for treatment. Investigators confirmed neither police nor bystanders were injured.
In a news release, police said the situation started earlier in the evening when officers responded to a report of shots fired in the Tara Plaza. The suspect reportedly left the area and officers found the vehicle nearby and started pursuing it. Police said during the pursuit, the suspect fired upon police and officers returned fire.
Moments before the car ended up at Home Depot, witnesses told KETV NewsWatch 7 that same car was spotted in the area of 96th Street and Portal Road.
Police said there is no threat to the public. Officers from the Papillion Police Department, La Vista Police Department, and the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office were involved.
The Sarpy County Force Investigation Team will investigate.
