MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) — As one of the biggest murder cases in South Carolina history enters a retrial, News 4 is digging deeper into new court filings now on the table.
Alex Murdaugh's defense team is making moves. The question is whether they change the course of the case.
News 4's legal analyst and former South Carolina Attorney General Charlie Condon is here in the studio to offer his expert take.

In the bevy of motions filed this week, Murdaugh's legal team is seeking a change of venue. Additionally, they want to order prosecutors to make available DNA evidence taken from Maggie Murdaugh, Alex’s wife, following her murder for independent analysis by an outside laboratory.
A final motion included a request for Murdaugh to be provided a laptop for his use during preparation for the trial due to the "voluminous" discovery that "would fill numerous banker's boxes" if printed.
