NORWAY — The Jake Menghini Historical Museum will host an author event from 2 to 4 p.m. today, featuring writer Gail Galotta.
Galotta’s book, “Voices Carry Here: Supernatural Stories of Ghosts, Mystery, and Suspense,” was recently published by Mission Point Press and has achieved No. 1 Bestseller status on Amazon.
Galotta will read excerpts from the book as well as sign copies. Books also will be available for sale at the museum.
“We are thrilled to have Gail featured at our museum. Her book is brilliantly written and highly entertaining,” museum board member Carol Sundstrom said. “Many of the stories take place in the U.P. and will especially appeal to readers in our community.”
Although “Voices Carry Here” is a work of fiction, some of the stories are inspired by local folklore, as well as Galotta’s personal experiences.
“Each story is unique from the others, distinctively different in the periods in which they are set, as well as the tone and mood of each selection. While these are not ‘horror and gore,’ stories, most will, I hope, have the reader slightly unnerved and looking behind him for that imagined shadow.”
Galotta has appeared as a guest on Darknessradioshow and the Fox 17 Morning Mix television show.
A longtime writer and director of plays that have been produced on stages throughout Dickinson County, Galotta is also an experienced performer.
“This program promises to be an entertaining glimpse into these stories,” Sundstrom said. “It might remind you of storytelling around the campfire as a kid — but these will definitely give a grown-up the chills.”
The event will take place at the Jake Menghini Historical Museum, 105 Odill Drive in Norway.
