Lots of sunshine will make for a beautiful day across Long Island today. Temperatures will climb into the 70s for most locations, with a few low 80s possible across western Nassau County. The UV index will be on the high side, so be sure to use sunscreen and take other sun-safety precautions if you'll be spending time outdoors. Overall, it's a great afternoon to enjoy the beach, parks, or any outdoor activities.
Tonight, skies will turn partly cloudy with comfortable conditions continuing. Overnight lows will settle into the 50s to lower 60s. Winds will remain light, making for a pleasant evening whether you're heading out or simply opening the windows to let in some fresh air.
On Wednesday, clouds will gradually increase through the day as the atmosphere becomes more unsettled. High temperatures will reach the upper 70s to lower 80s. A few scattered showers may develop during the afternoon, but the better chance for showers and thunderstorms arrives late Wednesday into Wednesday night. Some storms could produce brief heavy downpours and gusty winds. A lingering thunderstorm is possible early Thursday morning before skies begin to brighten with a mix of sunshine and clouds. It will turn hot with afternoon highs in the mid to upper 80s. Additional late-day showers and thunderstorms are possible, and a few storms could become strong with heavy rain and gusty winds.
Looking ahead, sunshine returns on Friday with mostly sunny skies and temperatures remaining in the 80s. There is only a slight chance of a shower Friday night. The weekend is shaping up nicely, with plenty of sunshine and warm conditions continuing. High temperatures will be in the 80s on Saturday, though a brief late-day shower cannot be ruled out. Sunday currently looks like the better of the two days, featuring abundant sunshine, low humidity, and highs in the 80s across Long Island.
