The Dallas Cowboys’ perceived issues at linebacker continue to generate trade rumors. One specific player ] continues to have his name come up, Dolphins linebacker Jordyn Brooks. Dolphins GM Jon-Eric Sullivan has expressed how important Brooks is to the organization, but many outside the building aren’t buying it. If Brooks were available, the Cowboys could be interested in his services if they still feel they need help at the position. Brooks enters the season with a manageable salary of $7,865,000. That’s a cheap enough number compared to other All-Pro starting linebackers around the NFL to get their attention.
But the Cowboys don’t necessarily need to add players to grow as a team; they have a few internal breakout candidates who can impact how the season unfolds for Dallas. On offense, they are hoping receiver Ryan Flournoy takes another step in his growth after finishing the 2025 season strong. On defense, ascension from edge Donovan Ezeiruaku and corner Shavon Revel Jr. would ease quite a few concerns for a defense that collapsed last season. The Cowboys are looking for second-year jumps from each player that can boost the defense overall. All three players have the chance to evolve, and if they do, Dallas will be a lot better on both sides of the ball.
Here’s a roundup of the latest news and notes from the Cowboys and the league.
