COLLEGE STATION – Canada’s Camryn Rogers was victorious in women’s hammer throw at the Lone Star Grand Prix in Texas on Saturday.
Her Canadian teammates Andre De Grasse and Audrey Leduc also placed second in the men’s and women’s 100 metres respectively at Texas A&M University.
Reigning Olympic and world champion Rogers from Richmond, B.C., posted a winning throw in the third round of 79.36 metres.
Rachel Richeson of the United States was second at 79.33 metres, ahead of China’s Jie Zhao in third at 76.25.
Rogers was coming off a victory Wednesday at the Paavo Nurmi Games in Turku, Finland, where she surpassed the 80-metre mark for the third time this season.
De Grasse of Markham, Ont., crossed the line in 9.91 seconds behind Trayvon Brummell of the U.S. in 9.85 seconds. Oblique Seville of Jamaica was third.
Leduc of Gatineau, Que., ran a 10.97 behind Jamaican Sabrina Dockery’s 10.92. Dockery’s countrywoman Jodean William placed third.
Toronto’s Aaron Brown raced to third in the men’s 200 metres.
Christopher Morales Williams of Maple, Ont., was fourth in the men’s 400 and Savannah Sutherland of Borden, Sask., was also fourth in the women’s 400-metre hurdles.
Toronto’s Abdullahi Hassan placed fifth in the men’s 800.
The Lone Star Grand Prix is one of two World Athletics Continental Tour Gold meets in the U.S. this season alongside the Los Angeles Grand Prix on June 14.
