Crews are battling a brush fire on NM-170 north of Road 1424
A brush fire in San Juan County is forcing evacuations in the area. Crews are battling the fire on NM-170 north of Road 1424. Officials say the highway is closed between Road 1401 and 1424.
Four people were evacuated from their home. No word yet on if they have been allowed to return.
Crews telling us power lines are down and expect the highway to be closed for an extended amount of time. They also said lots of water is being used and have the fire contained about two acres. There is a lot of debris that is on fire and will continue to burn.
They are asking people to seek alternate routes and avoid the area.
