Home A Good Appetite BREAKING: Rebel TMC MPs to join Tripura-based Nationalist Citizens Party of India – India.Com

New Delhi: Amidst the rebellion within the Trinamool Congress (TMC), it has been reported that rebel MPs from Mamata Banerjee’s party may merge with the Nationalist Citizens Party (NCPI) in Tripura to avoid legal hurdles and subsequently extend support to the BJP-led NDA.

According to sources, the rebel MPs are taking this step to steer clear of future legal and technical obstacles. It is believed that the new party will be named the Nationalist Citizens Party, and it will primarily operate in the states of Assam, Tripura, and West Bengal, while the faction will support the NDA at the Centre.

The Nationalist Citizens Party currently operates in the Northeastern states, with a presence in Assam, Tripura, Bengal, and other regions. The party had also contested the Tripura Assembly elections. Now, the rebel TMC MPs are preparing to merge with this party.

The list of rebel MPs includes approximately 22 members, such as Kakoli Ghosh, Yusuf Pathan, Sudip Bandyopadhyay, and Saayoni Ghosh. All of them had won the 2024 Lok Sabha elections on a TMC ticket. Following the party’s defeat in the Bengal Assembly elections, these MPs rebelled against Mamata Banerjee and formed a new faction. On Sunday, they held a meeting at the residence of Union Minister Bhupender Yadav before seeking recognition from the Lok Sabha Speaker as the original Trinamool Congress parliamentary party.
