Along with epic new live-action movies coming soon, Paramount Pictures has a thrilling line of animated kids’ movies coming to theaters over the next few months. Last year, the studio came to the big screen with the releases of The SpongeBob Movie: Search for Squarepants and The Smurfs Movie, featuring two of the biggest names in entertainment for kids from the last two decades. That trend continues again with a new release from arguably the biggest show of the group.
Next up for Paramount will be the upcoming PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie, the third movie in the franchise’s theatrical trilogy that accompanies the original hit animated series from Nickelodeon. Officially announced for development in Feb. 2025, this threequel will take Ryder and the puppy gang to an unknown world inhabited by dinosaurs. Here, they will have to help a new puppy friend named Rex save an endangered species from the team’s classic villain, Mayor Humdinger, who plans on kidnapping them. Following the first trailer for the new movie in Mar. 2026, Paramount continues the PAW Patrol promotional tour with a second new look at what’s to come for the canine crew.
Paramount Pictures released the second full trailer for PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie ahead of its release in theaters on Aug. 14. Showing the titular team’s crash on a deserted island, they quickly meet the aforementioned Rex and a horde of dinosaurs that live on the island. As they make friends with the newcomers, Ryder and the puppies learn that the island is home to “the biggest diamond mine in the world,” which Humdinger and his crew want to take advantage of. Their actions seem to lead to the island’s volcano erupting, prompting PAW Patrol to work with the dinosaurs and save the island from being destroyed.
While this trailer expands slightly on what to expect from this movie’s plot, it still leaves plenty of questions to be answered for the puppies’ next adventures. At the very least, it sets up more of the danger the animal cast will face, which could threaten the lives of everybody on the island. Also of note for this movie is the impressive voice cast, which is led by Henry Bolan’s Ryder. Also included are McKenna Grace (Scooby-Doo: Origins), Jennifer Hudson (Dreamgirls), Paris Hilton (House of Wax), Snoop Dogg (Training Day), Jameela Jamil (The Good Place), and Terry Crews (Brooklyn Nine-Nine).
PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie will debut in theaters on Aug. 14.
