US–Israel–Iran War Latest News: Tensions in the Middle East surged again after the US military confirmed a new wave of strikes on Iranian territory, escalating an already volatile conflict. The latest operations reportedly hit multiple strategic locations, including Tehran’s western outskirts, Fars province, Minab, Bandar Abbas and Qeshm Island while the strikes mark another sharp turn in a conflict that has steadily widened across the Gulf region.
US Central Command said the latest action began at approximately 5:15 p.m. ET, describing the strikes as “additional self-defense operations” ordered by the US Commander-in-Chief. Officials stated the action was in response to what they called “continued and unwarranted aggression” from Iran while the announcement signals a sustained operational tempo, with multiple rounds of strikes reported within 24 hours.
The attacks come after US President Donald Trump said “We’re going to hit them again hard today”, even as he expressed frustration at Tehran for not arriving at a peace deal proposed by the US. Shortly after, Trump’s war secretary Pete Hegseth said US will bomb ‘key facilities’ in Iran.
According to regional reports and military statements, several Iranian areas came under attack or air defense activity:
Iranian media described the situation as “fast-moving and fragmented,” with multiple cities simultaneously affected. Iranian local reports said a ‘location’ in Sirik was hit by ‘enemy’ projectiles, while explosions were heard due to firing of projectiles in Qeshm and Hengam. Iran’s Mehr news agency said that air defence systems were activated in western Tehran and in Fars province.

Iranian reports claim that its air defense systems engaged hostile aircraft over Gulf airspace, allegedly forcing an F-16 to retreat while, semi-official sources stated that the IRGC Navy targeted two vessels attempting to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil transit route handling nearly 20% of the world’s petroleum shipments. Separate reports also suggested heightened naval restrictions, including claims of attempted closure of the Strait and though independent verification remains limited.
Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency reports that the IRGC Navy struck two “violating ships” that were trying to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. Any vessel attempting to transit the waterway will be targeted, according to the report.
Iran’s Mehr news agency reports the IRGC as saying that its air defence systems fired a missile at an F16 aircraft that violated the “Gulf airspace”, forcing it to retreat.
Iran’s Red Crescent placed emergency operations centers on full alert across the country while local authorities urged civilians in affected provinces to remain indoors as explosions and air defense activity intensified. In Bandar Abbas, residents reported multiple waves of blasts, with smoke visible near coastal infrastructure zones.
The escalation follows repeated warnings from Washington officials about further strikes if attacks on US or allied assets continue with multiple Iranian regions now reporting simultaneous incidents, analysts warn the situation is entering a more unpredictable phase, where military and economic risks are rapidly converging.
