FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – A 37-year-old New Haven man was charged Wednesday with rape.
Andre Davis is charged with one count of rape, which carries a potential prison sentence of up to 16 years.
Davis was staying at the victim’s apartment late last year, which she shared with another person, according to court records obtained by 21Investigates. The victim told police she denied Davis’ request to have sex with her, but he came back soon after and said he was “just going to take it,” and assaulted her.
After the assault, the victim said she received texts from Davis, in which she said he forced her to have sex without her consent. Davis allegedly replied that he had previous bad experiences that contributed to his actions.
After the assault, the victim had to be treated for two separate sexually transmitted diseases, telling police she had not had sexual contact with anyone after the assault.
She identified Davis from a photo array as her attacker.
