The USC Trojans will take the field against the No. 2-ranked team in the country, the Texas A&M Aggies, in the championship game of the Atlanta Regional in the College World Series on Monday night at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park in College Station, Texas. The Aggies ended the season as a top-12 team with a 41-15 record. Hosting this regional, they opened it up with a win over Lamar in the first game, 7-5. Moving to the semifinals, they faced Texas State and won dominantly, 17-3. Weston Moss picked up the win, allowing two earned runs over 7.1 innings with 10 strikeouts. With its opponent coming back out of the losers’ bracket, the two faced off on Sunday, with USC stealing the game. Now with a loss, Texas A&M will face USC one more time.

The Trojans finished the season with a 46-16 record. Heading on the road in this region as a No. 2 seed, they opened up with a loss against Texas State by one run. Heading straight to the elimination bracket, USC then took down Lamar, 19-6, on Saturday. They played two straight times on Sunday, winning both of them to force this decisive championship game. They took down Texas State in a rematch, 15-4, and then beat Texas A&M, 14-3. Sax Matson picked up that huge win, pitching a scoreless 3.1 innings.
With each team having one loss in the regional, the winner of this game will win the championship and head to the NCAA Super Regionals next week. Regardless of which team comes away with the win, the Super Regional competitor, North Carolina, is the No. 5 seed in the nation, higher than either of these teams, and will host the Super Regionals in Chapel Hill.
