COLUMBUS, Ohio — Some of Ohio’s largest state parks was recognized by USA Today for being among the top 10 best in the country.
Each year, USA Today’s Reader’s Choice selects a handful of categories in which a panel of experts selects nominees. Once the panel narrows down its choices, the public is invited to choose. The final top 10 make up the 10Best Reader’s Choice awards in each category, according to USA Today.
For the category of Best State Park for 2026, Mohican State Park took the second spot and Hocking Hills State Park was ranked 5th.
USA Today boasted Mohican’s 4,500 acres, which offer year-round recreational activities for guests.
There’s hiking, biking, camping, picnicking and many more opportunities for nature enthusiasts. Mohican State Park has 13 miles of hiking trails, a 25-mile mountain biking loop and much more. Clear Fork Gorge, Lyon’s Falls, and the Mohican State Scenic River are just a few of the hidden gems this park offers.
As for Hocking Hills, USA Today noted some of its unique geological features, including the recess caves, hemlock-filled gorges and sandstone cliffs. There are tons of must-sees in this park, including Old Man’s Cave, Ash Cave and Cedar Falls.
