The final leg of the 2026 Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Horse Racing heads to Saratoga Race Course for the 158th Belmont Stakes. This year, there will not be a triple crown winner after Golden Tempo won the Kentucky Derby and Napoleon Solo won the Preakness Stakes. Instead, Golden Tempo (9-2) will attempt to win two legs of the Triple Crown. There are nine horses in the field, including Golden Tempo. The winner of the 2026 Preakness Stakes, Napoleon Solo, is not in the field for the 158th Belmont Stakes. This year, the overwhelming favorite to win the Belmont Stakes is Renegade (2-1).

Renegade is looking to break the recent trend of favorites not winning the Belmont Stakes. Only seven of the last 30 frontrunners in this race carried that to a win. Double-figure longshots have won 12 of the last 30 Belmont Stakes, making this race one of the hardest to predict over the last three decades.
This year, the double-figure underdogs in the field are Vituvian Man (30-1), Ottinho (20-1), Powershift (12-1), and Growth Equity (12-1).
Also in the field are Chief Wallabee (3-1), Commandment (6-1), and Emerging Market (6-1) who are neither the favorites nor double-figure underdogs heading into the 158th Belmont Stakes.
