Seven Indian schools have reached the top 10 shortlist for the World's Best School Prizes 2026, creating a record for India. Winners will be announced in November after judging and public voting.
Seven schools from India have been included in the top 10 shortlist for the World’s Best School Prizes 2026, announced in London on Thursday, reported PTI.
In the Innovation category, PCMC Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj English Medium School in Pune and Army Goodwill School Wuzur in Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir, have been selected among the finalists.
Three schools have been shortlisted in the Community Collaboration category. These are Healthy Planet TGA Early Years School in Noida, Inventure Academy in Bengaluru, and Seth M.R. Jaipuria School, Vineet Khand in Lucknow.
EuroSchool Bannerghatta in Bengaluru has been shortlisted in the Environmental Action category.
Another school from Lucknow, Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, has earned a place in the top 10 for the Supporting Healthy Lives category.
Speaking about the achievement, Vikas Pota, Founder of T4 Education and the World’s Best School Prizes, said, “Each one of these exemplary schools shortlisted for this global schools prize has, in its own unique way, helped prepare young people for a world that has never seemed so uncertain.”
He further added, “It is more important than ever that our schools grow the leaders we’ll need to face massive challenges from rising conflict and inequality to populism and climate breakdown. In their classrooms, every day, these institutions show what works. And governments and schools across the world should learn from their shining examples.”
This year, India has created a new record by having the highest number of schools shortlisted in a single year since the awards began four years ago.
The World’s Best School Prizes were started by UK-based T4 Education after the COVID pandemic to recognise schools that are making a positive difference in education and society.
The final winners will be selected by an expert judging panel. The top three finalists and winners will be announced in November 2026.
All 50 shortlisted schools from the five award categories are also taking part in a public voting process for the Community Choice Award, which has already started.
The shortlisted schools and winners will be invited to attend the World Schools Summit in London in January 2027, where they will share their ideas and successful teaching methods with education experts and policymakers from around the world.
