Woman escapes from Lexington correctional facility, officials say – WXII

An investigation is underway after a woman escaped from a Triad correctional facility, according to officials with the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction.
Officials said Mary Helms escaped from the North Piedmont Confinement in Response to Violation (CRV) Center for Women in Lexington on Tuesday. Her escape was discovered during the facility’s 4 p.m. count.
Officials said she was admitted to the North Piedmont CRV Center for Women on June 24 to serve a 90-day period of confinement.
The North Piedmont CRV Center for Women houses offenders serving short periods of confinement for violations of probation, parole, or post-release supervision.
