Iran’s Fars news agency said on Sunday (June 14, 2026) that Tehran has not made a final decision on signing the agreement under discussion with the United States to end the West Asia war. “The Islamic Republic of Iran has not yet taken or announced its final decision concerning the memorandum of understanding proposed during negotiations,” reported Fars, which is close to Iranian conservative circles, citing “a well-informed source close to the Iranian negotiating team”.
The U.S. and Iran have released conflicting information about the contents of the deal, as each seeks to show it emerged from the war with the upper hand.

U.S. President Donald Trump said that a deal with Iran to end the war in West Asia would be signed on Sunday (June 14, 2026), and that the strategic Strait of Hormuz would be “open to all” immediately after. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said that the date of the signing was yet to be determined, but “it will not be tomorrow”. However, he added, “The possibility of this happening in the coming days cannot be ruled out.”
The warring parties have nonetheless released conflicting information about the contents of the deal, as each seeks to show it emerged from the war with the upper hand.

Meanwhile, dozens protested on Saturday (June 13, 2026) outside a Foreign Ministry office in Iran’s northeastern city of Mashhad, chanting slogans against top diplomat Abbas Araghchi after a televised interview in which he discussed signing the peace deal. In a video shared by Fars news agency, women in black chadors chanted “death to dishonourable Araghchi, the infiltrator” in front of the building, while waving red and black flags. Hardline Iranian figures argue that the deal does not serve Iran’s interests and would deprive Tehran of leverage over the Strait of Hormuz. They also accuse Iranian negotiators of having made too many concessions to secure the deal.

Pakistan says the United States and Iran have reached an agreement to end the war and open the Strait of Hormuz, offering relief to the global economy more than three months since the war began.
Full details of the deal were not immediately available. The signing will be Friday in Switzerland. It is not clear how quickly the strait might reopen to all traffic. The U.S. previously said it would ease its blockade of Iranian ports as the strait reopens, and would agree to relax sanctions to allow Iran to sell more of its oil and strengthen its battered economy.

The signing of the U.S.-Iran deal to end the war has been delayed by a few hours due to Israel’s strikes on Hezbollah targets in Beirut, U.S. President Donald Trump told local media in .
Mr. Trump said he was shocked when he heard about the Israeli strike in Beirut, and fumed at Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
“It shook it up. It delayed the signing by a few hours. It was supposed to be now. Now it is scheduled for a few hours from now,” Mr. Trump told U.S. media outlet Axios.
The President told Fox News that the peace deal with Iran will be signed electronically on Sunday, and the in-person signing will happen in Europe a week from now. Mr. Trump said he was also speaking to interlocutors in Iran to dissuade them from responding to Israeli air strikes in Beirut.
“What the **** are you doing,” Mr. Trump asked Netanyahu in a phone call, according to Fox News.

Iranian chief negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said on Sunday there was “no point” in continuing peace talks with the United States after its ally Israel attacked Beirut’s southern suburbs.
“The Zionists’ aggression against Dahieh once again showed that the United States either lacks the will to implement its commitments or lacks the ability to do so,” Mr. Ghalibaf said in a post on X.
“If you do not have the will or the ability to fulfil your commitments, then there is no point in talking about continuing down this path,” he added, against the backdrop of ongoing efforts to finalise a peace deal between the warring parties.

The Israeli military has “just carried out strikes in the Dahiyeh district of Beirut against terrorist targets belonging to the Hezbollah terrorist organisation, in response to Hezbollah’s firing toward Israeli territory”, Mr. Netanyahu’s office said in a statement. The military said it had “precisely struck” a Hezbollah infrastructure site in Dahiyeh.

Donald Trump says a U.S.-Iran peace deal is set to be signed on Sunday and that the Strait of Hormuz will reopen immediately after. Iran, however, says any agreement would only be a framework for further talks and not a final deal.
The Israeli military said two drones, suspected to have been launched by militant group Hezbollah from Lebanon, struck northern Israel on Sunday (June 14, 2026) but caused no casualties.
“Two impacts of suspicious aerial targets in Israeli territory were identified near the Israel-Lebanon border. No injuries were reported,” the military said.
In the wake of the strikes, two far-right Israeli ministers called for retaliatory strikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs, a Hezbollah stronghold known as Dahiyeh.
“The shooting at northern communities is a test of the Dahiyeh Doctrine that the prime minister declared. I call on him to implement it decisively and firmly, and to bring down buildings in Dahiyeh,” Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said on X.
“For every drone — a missile; for every violation — fire; for every UAV — Dahiyeh must tremble,” wrote National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir on X.

On Friday (June 12, 2026), after India summoned U.S. Embassy representative Jason Meeks and lodged its “strong protest” against the missile attacks on ships carrying Indian crew, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio told External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar that violations of the American blockade and “illicit transport of Iranian oil” would not be tolerated.
Recalling his discussion with Mr. Rubio, Mr. Jaishankar posted on X: “I reiterated India’s strong protest at the attacks by the U.S. Navy in the Gulf that killed three Indian mariners. Such lethal actions against commercial shipping are not justified.”

U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday (June 13, 2026) said a deal with Iran is scheduled to be signed on Sunday (June 14, 2026), reopening the Strait of Hormuz to all shipping, and that the U.S. would “go and get” Iran’s highly enriched uranium at a later stage even as Tehran said the talks were in their final stage but remained non-committal about any timeline for the agreement.
“The deal is scheduled to get signed tomorrow, and immediately after it is signed, the Hormuz Strait is open to all. Our relationship with Iran is a much different and better one than previous administrations have had,” Mr. Trump wrote in a social media post.
