A search for a kayaker who went missing on the Ohio River in Clermont County was ongoing for hours on Thursday night.
They were called to the Ohio River, off U.S. Route 52 in New Richmond, around 4:30 p.m.
Officials in Clermont County said two kayakers were on the river when they went under the water and one of them has not been found.
Investigators haven’t said if the kayaker who was found was injured.
The Clermont County Dive Team responded to help in the search and authorities also put up a drone to look for the missing kayaker before pulling boats out of the water around 9 p.m. The search will continue Friday morning.
At this time, investigators haven’t said what led to the kayaker going missing.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources is also responding and coordinating the search and investigation.
Officials said Thursday night that lack of lighting and debris in the water are complicating factors in the search.
