Sam Tutty and Taylor Trensch have never met, but in a new video from Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York), you can’t even tell. When asked about his favorite New York-themed piece of culture, Trensch responded that his “favorite New York song is sung by this amazing young singer named Sam Tutty.” Tutty, sitting next to him, smiles knowingly in response.
Watch the two chat in the video above about dressing room snacks and which show on Broadway they’d love to do (even if they’re not qualified to do it).
In Two (Broadway) Strangers, a new video series from Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York), the stars and creative team of the musical interview fans of the musical. Previous episodes included an interview with a fan who’s seen the show 19 times, with Schmigadoon! actor Isabelle McCalla, and with another “strange” composer Michael R. Jackson.
Playing the Longacre Theatre, the musical follows a naïve and impossibly upbeat Brit, Dougal, who has just landed in New York for his estranged father’s second wedding. When Robin, the sister of the bride, picks him up from the airport, they embark on an serendipitous adventure through New York City. The musical costars Tony nominee Sam Tutty, who originated the role of Dougal in London.
The romantic comedy is written by Jim Barne and Kit Buchan. It also features scenic and costume design by Soutra Gilmour, lighting design by Jack Knowles, sound design by Tony Gayle, music supervision by Nick Finlow, and orchestrations by Lux Pyramid. Casting is by C12 Casting’s Stephen Kopel.
The musical is produced on Broadway by Kevin McCollum, Tim Johanson, Glass Half Full Productions, and Jamie Wilson Productions.
