A Dallas man has been arrested in a Saturday shooting at a Whataburger in Marshall that left two people dead and two others injured, according to Marshall police.
Davion Brown, 19, was booked Sunday into the Gregg County Jail in Longview on a charge of capital murder of multiple persons. Bond had not yet been set. Longview police arrested Brown.
911 dispatchers were alerted of the shooting about 1:50 a.m. Saturday at the Whataburger on Victory Drive.
“Marshall Police Department patrol officers responded to the scene and located multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds in the parking lot,” Marshall police previously said in a statement. “A total of four individuals were shot during the incident. Two victims were pronounced deceased, and two others were transported by Marshall Fire Department paramedics to medical facilities for treatment of their injuries.”
Police identified the deceased victims as James Morrow, 20, and Jassiah Hill, 18.
“First, our hearts go out to the families and loved ones of these young men for this senseless crime,” police Chief Cliff Carruth said in a statement. “We are grateful for the swift assistance and partnership of all the agencies involved in this investigation. This kind of violence has no place in our community, and we will not tolerate it. We are committed to holding those responsible accountable and doing everything we can to protect the safety of our citizens.”
The case remains an active and ongoing investigation, and additional charges may be filed, police said.
“Several partner agencies are actively assisting with the ongoing investigation, including the Harrison County District Attorney’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Rangers, Harrison County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division, Texas DPS Patrol, and the Longview Police Department, which is providing jurisdictional assistance,” officials said.
MPD asks anyone with information related to the shooting incident to contact the department at (903) 935-4575 or submit tips anonymously through Marshall-Harrison County Crime Stoppers at (903) 935-9969.
