Two people are dead, and another person was hospitalized after what Collier County deputies are investigating as an apparent murder-suicide inside a North Naples condo community Wednesday night.
According to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to Avellino Isles Circle in the Vineyards community just before 7:30 p.m. after reports of a shooting inside a condo.
A newly obtained incident report states a father called 911, telling dispatchers his son had shot his wife before turning the gun on himself.
When deputies arrived, they say the father was still alive despite suffering gunshot wounds to his head, shoulder, and hand. According to the report, he was able to walk out of the condo before being taken to the hospital as a trauma alert.
Deputies say they then entered the home and found the bodies of the son and his wife inside the condo.
Collier County major crimes detectives and crime scene investigators are now investigating.
We asked the sheriff’s office for an update on the father’s condition, but we have not heard whether he survived.
We also requested the 911 call, but were told it cannot be released while the investigation remains active.
