Delhi Police and paramilitary forces have been deployed across key locations in the national capital on Saturday (June 6, 2026) as members of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) began their protest at Jantar Mantar, officials said. The founder of the satirical online “Cockroach Janta Party”, Abhijeet Dipke, said he is “looking forward to meeting all at Jantar Mantar”, as he arrived in the capital city, from the United States. “We have to lead this movement with love and peace!” he added in a post on X. 
Russia’s share in the value of India’s oil imports jumped back up to an 11-month high of nearly 38% in April 2026 as India continued to increase its dependence on it against the backdrop of the ongoing West Asia crisis. This increasing dependence was accompanied by a 425% jump in the premium being charged by Russia for its oil, in contrast to the discount it had been offering until recently. Russia’s share stood at about 34% in terms of the volume of India’s crude imports in April 2026. At the same time, India’s dependence on oil from the U.S. fell to multi-month lows in terms of both value and volume. .   
Nearly 150 students of an aided upper primary school at Koilady in Wayanad district of Kerala are undergoing treatment for fever and vomiting over the last three days, an official said. The children are students of Mar Baselios Aided Upper Primary School, and of them, 38, who continued to show discomfort, have been admitted to the Bathery Taluk hospital, they said. The District Medical Officer (DMO) said that there was currently no need to be worried and that, as a precautionary measure, a week-long holiday has been declared for the school. A special ward has been set up at the taluk hospital for the treatment, the official said. Apart from the students, a teacher at the school has also reported physical discomfort, the DMO said.
As the crackdown on Trinamool Congress leaders continues in West Bengal, many of them have found themselves on the wrong side of the law over allegations of hoarding and diverting government relief materials meant for disaster-hit residents. While some of them have been arrested, others face protests by locals. Among the latest incidents, a large quantity of blankets, tarpaulins, clothes, rice, and wheat was allegedly recovered from locked Eastern Coalfields Limited quarters linked to TMC leader Udeep Singh in the Jamuria coal mine area of Pashchim Bardhaman district on Thursday (June 4 ). 
As many as 1,076 Indian nationals have been deported from the U.S. this year so far,” the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Friday (June 5, 2026), noting that the two sides are committed to acting against illegal migration. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said a total of 3,567 Indians were deported in 2025. “A total of 1,076 Indian nationals have been deported from the U.S. to India so far this year. During 2025, a total of 3,567 people were deported from the U.S.,” he said.
The Supreme Court of India has held that the fundamental right to travel abroad, which comes under Article 21, cannot be viewed in isolation; rather, it needs to be balanced with the victim’s right to a speedy trial. A Division Bench comprising Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice Satish Chandra Sharma set aside the order of the Telangana High Court, which permitted a businessman who is accused in a criminal case to travel to the U.S. for medical treatment. The case arose out of a complaint lodged in 2014 about the suspicious death of the complainant’s father, after which an FIR was filed against the businessman and others of criminal conspiracy and abetment of suicide under the Indian Penal Code.
DMK president M.K. Stalin on Saturday (June 6, 2026) called upon party workers to take a pledge to bring down the Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) government, which he said was surviving with the support of parties that were once part of the DMK-led alliance and had won seats in the Assembly. “The TVK government is, in a way, being sustained by our support because our former alliance partners are backing it. These are the very parties that wanted us to win the election. Their leaders themselves clarified that they had consulted me before extending support to the TVK. I told them that they had the democratic right to take such a decision,” he said, while admitting cadres from various parties into the DMK.
The CBSE on Friday (June 5, 2026) extended the last date for submission of applications for verification and re-evaluation of Class 12 answer sheets by one day, till June 7. The move comes after several students flagged issues in accessing answer books and applying for verification and re-evaluation on the CBSE’s post-result services portal launched on June 2. “In the interest of students, the CBSE has decided to extend the last date for submission of applications for verification and re-evaluation for the Class 12 board examinations, thereby providing students additional time and support to complete the process,” the board said in a post on X.
The High Commission of India in London on Friday (June 5, 2026) issued a statement condemning the disruption caused at an event addressed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant during his ongoing visit to the U.K. Mr. Kant was addressing a lecture entitled ‘Artificial Intelligence and International Law’ at Birkbeck, University of London, on Thursday (June 4, 2026), which was followed by an audience interaction. The event explored the growing relationship between artificial intelligence, legal systems and international governance, examining both the opportunities and challenges AI presents for the future of justice and global regulation.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that any attempt to undermine India’s sovereignty through “threats of sanctions” would “boomerang immediately” under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. Mr. Putin made these remarks at the annual St Petersburg International Economic Forum on Friday (June 5, 2026) in response to a question about his comments during an interaction with heads of leading global news agencies, including PTI, on Thursday (June 4, 2026) night. “India always acts as a sovereign country, and under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, any potential threats of sanctions would boomerang immediately,” Mr. Putin said.
The Pakistan government is denying legal and constitutional rights to the incarcerated former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife and depriving the couple of proper healthcare, his party unit in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province has alleged. Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has been in jail since August 2023 in multiple cases, while his wife, Bushra Bibi, was initially under house arrest and later sent to jail in May 2024.
