Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Saturday (April 25, 2026) met Pakistan Army chief Field Marshal Asim Munir in Islamabad, as Islamabad continued its efforts to facilitate engagement between the U.S. and Iran. The meeting, according to a short video posted by the Iranian embassy on social media, was also attended by Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei, and ambassador Reza Amiri Moghadam.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday (April 25, 2026) cornered Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal over the new bungalow allotted to him at Lodhi Estate in New Delhi, dubbing it as “Sheesh Mahal 2” and alleging expenditure of private money to build amenities in it. Addressing a press conference at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi, Delhi Public Works Department Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma said Mr. Kejriwal has become habituated to living lavishly.
The Election Commission of India on Saturday (April 25, 2026) said post-poll scrutiny of Form 17A and related election documents was completed smoothly in Tamil Nadu, which voted on April 23, and in West Bengal, where Phase 1 of polling concluded on the same day. The verification exercise was conducted on April 24 across all 152 Assembly constituencies in West Bengal and 234 constituencies in Tamil Nadu, in the presence of general observers and candidates or their representatives.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday (April 24, 2026) asserted the BJP had sealed its victory in the first phase of the West Bengal Assembly polls itself, claiming the party would win 110 seats in the polling held on April 23. Addressing an election rally, he promised swift implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), particularly for the Matua community, once the BJP came to power in the State.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday (April 25, 2026) dubbed the RSS as “Rashtriya Surrender Sangh” and alleged that its leader Ram Madhav has revealed the outfit’s true nature of “farzi (fake) nationalism” here and “pure servility” in the U.S. He was referring to a video of Mr. Madhav from an event in the U.S., where the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader said that India agreed to stop buying oil from Iran and Russia and also agreed to higher tariffs imposed by the U.S.
Crime scene recreation is underway at the southeast Delhi residence where the alleged rape and murder of the 22-year-old daughter of a senior IRS officer took place on April 22. Police sources on Saturday (April 25, 2026) said that as part of the ongoing probe into the case, the investigators are working to piece together the sequence of events.
With temperatures rising across several regions, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) released detailed heatwave guidelines and advisories, officials said on Saturday (April 25, 2026). Defected AAP MP Swati Maliwal on Saturday (April 25, 2026) alleged that her former party had “strayed far” from its original principles, and its leader Arvind Kejriwal is no longer the same. Barely a year after losing power to the BJP in Delhi, AAP suffered its greatest jolt on Friday (April 24, 2026) when seven of its Rajya Sabha MPs, including Raghav Chadha and Ms. Maliwal, quit the party.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday (April 25, 2026) said that every Indian has a stake in the ongoing West Bengal Assembly elections as Bangladeshi infiltrators were not only causing demographic change in the State but also spilling over to adjoining States.
The body of a Bangladeshi doctoral student who went missing with his girlfriend from the University of South Florida was found on a bridge over Tampa Bay, and his roommate has been taken into custody, law enforcement authorities said on Friday (April 24, 2026). Zamil Limon’s remains were found on the Howard Frankland bridge on Friday morning (April 24, 2026), but Nahida Bristy is still missing, Hillsborough County Chief Deputy Joseph Maurer said.
Bangladesh Police issued a nationwide security alert over possible militant attacks on key installations, including the Parliament complex, officials and media reports said on Saturday (April 25, 2026). “The alert has been issued based on intelligence reports,” a police headquarters (PHQ) official said, requesting anonymity. The official described the alert as “urgent and confidential”.
