Texas Tech softball just threw another haymaker in the transfer portal.
Former Florida State third baseman Jaysoni Beachum has committed to the Lady Raiders, giving Texas Tech one of the most dangerous bats and most decorated players available this offseason.

Beachum was widely viewed as the top uncommitted player in the softball transfer portal, and her move to Lubbock only cranks up the pressure around a program already hunting its first national championship.
After back-to-back runner-up finishes, Texas Tech isn’t quietly retooling. It’s loading the cannon.
Beachum arrives with serious credentials.
The former Seminoles star hit .406 in 2026 with 10 home runs, 13 doubles and 69 RBIs. She earned First Team All-ACC honors and was named a Second Team All-American by Softball America.
That wasn’t a one-year flash, either. Beachum is a two-time All-American, a two-time All-ACC selection and was the NFCA Division I Freshman of the Year in 2024.
Now she’s bringing that body of work to the Big 12.
Softball America ranked Beachum as the No. 3 overall player and No. 1 corner infielder in the transfer portal. With new NCAA eligibility rules, she’ll have two seasons to play at Texas Tech, which makes this commitment even more dangerous for the rest of the country.
Her Florida State career was ridiculous. Beachum finished with a .375 batting average, 37 home runs, 35 doubles, 180 RBIs, 158 runs scored and 202 hits.
She also posted a .654 slugging percentage and a .492 on-base percentage, giving Texas Tech the kind of middle-of-the-order force that can completely change a lineup.
And she’s not just a bat.
Beachum has been strong defensively at third base, carrying a .956 career fielding percentage at one of the toughest spots on the diamond.
The Lady Raiders have now landed the No. 2, No. 3, No. 8 and No. 12 transfers, plus seven portal additions overall. That’s not a rebuild. That’s a warning shot.
