*New Details: A 17-year-old has been arrested in connection to the shooting at Haywood Mall. Greenville Officers have identified the victims as one female and one male. The woman sustained a gunshot wound to her foot and the man was shot in the neck and shoulder area. Both have been hospitalized and are in stable condition.
Detectives say a 17-year-old has been arrested in connection to the shooting. Officers say the people involved in the incident knew each other, and a verbal altercation led to the shooting.
Detectives are still working to learn who discharged the firearms.
*Original Details: Officials responded to a shooting at the Haywood Mall on Haywood Road in Greenville, South Carolina, just after 1 p.m. on Saturday.
The Greenville Police Department has confirmed two people were transported to the hospital with injuries.
Officers are working with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office to clear the mall at this time.
Authorities say several individuals have been detained, and no other shots have been fired since officers arrived to the scene.
Officers say they are setting up a designated area on the ground floor of the parking garage at Dillard’s as a pickup spot for anyone who was dropped off at the mall.
Greenlink is bringing a bus with air conditioning for people to wait in and stay cool.
The mall will remain closed until further notice.
