The Great American AI Act will move from draft to a formal legislative bill in “weeks,” Rep. Jay Obernolte (R-Calif.) told us Thursday.
Obernolte’s AI federal framework with Rep. Lori Trahan (D-Mass.) and others was released Thursday as a discussion draft that invites feedback from lawmakers, the tech industry and advocacy groups. But the bipartisan group has been talking to the White House, committees of jurisdiction and leadership from both parties as they seek to get a federal AI bill passed this year.
