The House Science Committee advanced a bipartisan bill that would codify increasingly prominent artificial intelligence oversight work being done by the Commerce Department, including measuring the risks posed by the most powerful systems.
During an ongoing markup on Thursday, the panel is working to push forward measures that will help define the government’s approach to increasingly complex AI questions, including proposals on government data, education, flaw reporting and data center energy use.
