Tamil Nadu Green Energy Corporation Limited, an India-based green energy corporation, has reported rooftop solar application delays under PM Surya Ghar. As of June 6, 3,531 applications were pending across Tamil Nadu, including 2,211 waiting for more than 15 days. Some pending applications were two to three months old, while Chennai led the backlog with 932 cases, followed by Coimbatore with 395 and Madurai with 191. Officials said many consumers had registered on the portal but had not proceeded with rooftop solar installation. Rooftop solar consumers with systems up to 10 kW are exempt from securing feasibility reports. Once the systems are completed, engineers carry out inspections and clear net-meter replacement. Tamil Nadu has achieved 74,200 installations against a target of 3 lakh households, with vendors also pointing to domestic panel wait times, net-meter delays, and TNGECL server glitches as further constraints.
