VICTORIA, Texas – District 18 state Senator. Lois Kolkhorst made a stop in Victoria — bringing Austin’s latest straight to local leaders.
Kolkhorst spoke Tuesday morning at the economic development partnership meeting, highlighting projects with direct impact here — including the Victoria County Mental Health Facility, upgrades at Victoria Regional Airport, and investments at Texas A&M University-Victoria and Victoria College.
She also previewed priorities lawmakers are expected to take up when the next legislative session gets underway.
“Going into next session, we are going to continue pushing for dispatchable energy. Less from wind and solar, more from natural gas plants. We are going to be working in the interim, along with looking at health and human services fraud, waste and abuse, and examining the cost of health care,” said Kolkorst.
Kolkhorst also said desalination plants and improving the state’s electrical grid will be major topics in the upcoming legislative session.
