The A-level tri-nations series one-day series opens on Tuesday when host Sri Lanka squares-off with India at Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla, Sri Lanka. A-level cricket is a developmental level bridging domestic competition and full international play, allowing promising prospects the opportunity to experience international conditions and competition standards. Afghanistan is the third team in the field, which features a double round-robin before the top two teams meet in the final on June 21. The round-robin matches will be played every other day through June 19.

Batting allrounder Tilak Varma leads the India A squad as captain, with 15-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi also on the roster after posting 776 runs for the Rajasthan Royals in the recently completed Indian Premier League T20 tournament. Ruturaj Gaikwad was a late addition to the roster, replacing Riyan Parag after Parag was ruled out with a hamstring injury.
Sri Lanka announced its A squad last week, captained by allrounder Sahan Arachchige with wicketkeeper/batter Niroshan Dickwella serving as vice-captain. Sri Lanka swept three matches from the visiting New Zealand A team in April, with Ahan Wickramasinghe, Vijayakanth Viyaskanth and Mohamad Shiraz the holdovers from that Sri Lankan team.
After the tri-nations series is complete, Sri Lanka A and India A will play a pair of unofficial test matches scheduled for June 25-28 and July 2-5 in Galle, Sri Lanka.
