A major political controversy has erupted in Tamil Nadu after the DMK accused Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay of attempting to induce two party MLAs to resign from the Assembly. The ruling party has approached Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar and the DVAC, seeking an FIR and a comprehensive probe. Citing claims made by MDMK leader Vaiko, the DMK alleges a larger conspiracy to alter the Assembly's composition through inducements and defections. The allegations have triggered fresh debate over political ethics and democratic mandates in the state.
US Vice President JD Vance delivered a forceful message on Iran while addressing service members at Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach. Defending recent US military action, Vance said Washington "dropped some bombs" after alleging that Iran targeted commercial shipping, adding that the strikes helped restore free commercial transit through the Strait of Hormuz. Vance, however, also said that we must never do is drop bombs just for the sake of dropping bombs. He further warned that President Donald Trump retains multiple military options if Iran attempts to rebuild its nuclear program, threatens neighboring countries, or supports militant groups. At the same time, he stressed that the Trump administration would not use military force without a clear objective, saying American troops would only be sent into conflict with a defined mission.
