Sand Springs Public Schools is investigating after students reportedly received emails containing AI-generated images depicting school administrators in inappropriate situations.
In a message sent to families, the district said the emails were distributed by Charles Page High School students and contained deepfake images created using artificial intelligence.
School officials said they support students learning about emerging technologies but emphasized that creating and sharing non-consensual AI-generated images constitutes serious misconduct.
The district said it is investigating the incident, including how widely the emails were distributed and who may have been involved. Students found responsible for creating or sharing the images could face disciplinary action under district policy.
Sand Springs Public Schools said it has notified the Sand Springs Police Department about the incident.
Because district-issued platforms and networks were used to distribute the content, officials said all student email accounts have been temporarily disabled while the investigation continues.
According to district policy governing internet use, students involved could lose computer privileges and face additional disciplinary measures, including suspension or expulsion. The district also warned that violators and their parents or guardians could face civil or criminal penalties under state or federal law.
School officials encouraged families to discuss responsible technology use with their students and the potential consequences of creating and sharing harmful AI-generated content.
The district said it will notify families when student email accounts are reactivated.
