Samsung Electronics Co. was hit with patent infringement allegations by Touchstream Technologies Inc. over streaming technology utilized by the electronics giant’s SmartThings and TV plus applications.
Samsung’s applications use similar methods as US Patent Nos. 8,356,251, 11,048,751, 8,904,289 and 11,475,062, Touchstream said in a June 26 complaint filed in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. Touchstream said the patents protect various methods for sending or receiving signals to control the content playback from media players.
Samsung’s American unit and Harman International Industries Inc. unit were also named defendants in the lawsuit.
