Phyllis Dorothy Korn Burghardt
Phyllis was born in Buffalo, NY on April 1, 1932, the daughter of the late Edward and Mildred (Frick) Korn, she passed away into our Heavenly Father’s arms on March 24, 2026.
Phyllis attended St. Joseph Catholic Elementary School and Bennett High School in Buffalo. She married the love of her life, the late Donald J. Burghardt on February 3, 1951 in which they shared 69 years creating a loving family, working together in family run businesses ( Sunset Bay Park, Taylor Rental, Mini Maxi Storage and Custom Lab Specialties) and many traveling adventures throughout North America and Europe. She was an active member in the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Home School Association, Girl Scouts, WNY Rental Association, Northern Chautauqua Quilting Companions and Silver Creek Seniors over the years. Phyllis found great pleasure in gardening, creating beautiful quilts and challenging herself with puzzles. Her creativity, patience and attention to detail were reflected in everything she did. She will be remembered for her hard work, kindness and devotion to her faith and family.
She is survived by her children, Michael (Judy) Burghardt, Susan (late Daniel) Phillips, Bonnie (Robert) Matteson, Becky (John) Williams, and daughter in-law, Eileen (Larry) Kelderhouse. Cherished grandmother of nine grandchildren, Amy(Scott), Kara (Brandon), Jodi, Mark (Terry), Bill, Charlie, Jaimee, Noah and Lily and eight great grandchildren, Isabella, Daniel, Amelia, Paige, Emma, Ryan, Jonathan,and Maverick. Loving sister to Carol(John) Blest, and adored Aunt to several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, a son, Mark Burghardt, her siblings, Ruth, Marion, Thomas, and Virginia.
Family and Friends are welcome to attend a Mass of Christian Burial celebrating her life to be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Silver Creek at 12:00 pm. The family suggests memorials in Phyllis’s honor be made to the Sheridan Fire Department or St. Columbans on the Lake.
