The Burnaby, B.C.-based ClearDent says its platform is used by more than 35,000 dental professionals who manage more than two million patient records across Canada.
Under the partnership, Pearl’s Second Opinion® chairside radiologic AI software will be integrated with ClearDent’s imaging tools through the company’s Developer Program, allowing practitioners to incorporate AI-assisted radiographic analysis directly into their existing clinical workflow.
“Our partnership with ClearDent will markedly accelerate access to the power and benefits of AI for dental practices and clinicians throughout Canada,” said Ophir Tanz, chief executive officer of Pearl. “Second Opinion® enables dentists to deliver higher quality and more standardized care for patients.”
The partnership comes as AI continues to gain traction in dentistry, particularly in radiographic analysis and clinical decision support.
Second Opinion® is designed to help dentists identify radiographic findings, including caries, calculus and periapical radiolucencies. The software analyzes dental X-rays in real time and highlights potential areas of concern, supporting diagnosis and patient communication.
Pearl said the integration will allow ClearDent users to access AI-assisted image analysis without leaving the practice management platform.
“Our partnership with Pearl is a proud addition to our growing partner ecosystem, and a logical step in our quest to further support Canadian dentists,” said Karl Schmidt, executive vice-president of business development at ClearDent. “Through our work together, we’re helping those in the industry embrace the future of dentistry and incorporate innovative solutions to streamline and improve their practices.”

Founded in 2019, Pearl was the first company to receive U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance for AI capable of detecting dental disease on radiographs.
The company says Second Opinion® has received regulatory clearance in Canada, the United States, Australia, New Zealand and Europe, while its AI technologies have obtained regulatory clearances in 120 countries.
Pearl expanded its regulatory milestones in 2025. In May, it became the first dental AI company to receive FDA clearance for both 2D and 3D dental imaging. Later that year, the company received FDA clearance for AI-assisted analysis of panoramic radiographs, extending its disease-detection capabilities to one of dentistry’s most widely used extraoral imaging modalities.
